At Putney Playgrounds Kindergarten, we provide a safe, friendly, caring, and multicultural environment. Our goal is to cater to the needs and interests of children, staff, families, and the wider community. We believe that when children feel safe, secure, and supported, they gain the confidence to explore and learn (EYLF, 2009). Our philosophy is based on the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) for Australia. In line with this curriculum, we aim to extend and enrich children’s learning until they transition to school. We emphasise play-based learning and the importance of communication, language, and social and emotional development (EYLF, 2009).
At Putney Playgrounds Kindergarten, we believe children learn best when the curriculum connects to their everyday lives and interests, and this is reflected in our program. We view play as a vital opportunity for children to learn through discovery, creation, improvisation, and imagination (EYLF 2009).
By providing a safe, stimulating, and caring environment, we aim to help children feel confident in solving problems and becoming empowered learners. We strive to equip children with the skills to understand and respect their own feelings as well as those of others. Additionally, we teach respect for the natural environment through relevant activities and model and encourage health and hygiene practices.
We highly value the role of families and invite them to participate in our center’s daily program and activities. Our "Open Door Policy" allows parents, guardians, and family members to visit at any time. We appreciate the individuality of each family and the unique contributions they bring to our center.
We believe it is crucial for educators to continually build on their professional knowledge, fostering a co-learning environment with children, families, and the community.
When educators create environments where children experience mutually enjoyable, caring, and respectful relationships with people and the environment, children thrive and respond positively (EYLF 2009).
We believe that positive interactions between educators and children are crucial. However, we also recognise that children need personal space and quiet moments.
As professionals, we continually assess our practices, reflect on our experiences, and make necessary adjustments to meet the needs of all children.
We treat every child as our own, dedicating ourselves wholeheartedly to their success.
